To be honest, I think its really stupid that no mainstream American publication has been able to assign me a story about basically the olympics of kanna. After missing last year, I made my way back to Japan to close up our apartment, collect my tools, and see Andrew Ren compete at Kezuroukai 2026, outside of Kobe.
The scale and sensitivity that this competition forces one to think at is astounding. To turn a block of wood and a piece of steel and iron into an object capable of 3 micron accuracy is a testament to the ingenuity of human kind.
